We have a team of experienced specialists with a wide array of expertise.

MSA deploys a core of experienced and skilled African and Africa specialists in the technical and managerial aspects of health development. These are specialists who have led or participated in organizational transformations, and designed, managed and evaluated national and regional health development programmes.

HARRIS, Nancy P. (MPH) (American)
Chairperson

Nancy Harris, Chairperson Board of TrusteesNancy Harris has played a leadership role in the development and management of health and family planning service delivery programs and in influencing health policy in countries in every region of the world over the past 20 years. Since1981, she has had top management responsibility for large worldwide programs, based in Africa and Washington DC. Her early work at the grassroots level and extended residences in developing countries has give her keen understanding of the context in which service delivery and advocacy programs must operate. Her proficiency in languages enables her to communicate effectively with policy-makers, program managers, governments and private voluntary agencies. From her position as a Vice President of John Snow Inc., she is able to shape corporate policy and strategy to meet the changing needs of health programs around the world. Nancy also has demonstrated her ability as an entrepreneur, leading JSIs successful efforts to obtain a number of key USAID contracts, as well as foundation and private funding.


GAYE, Pape Amadou (MBA Human Resource Management & International Business Management) (American/Senegalese)
Vice-Chairperson

Pape Amadou Gaye, Vice-Chairperson Board of TrusteesPape Gaye has over 25 years of field experience in Francophone and Anglophone Africa. A renowned trainer and training manager, Pape has special expertise and interest in the areas of performance improvement, training, reproductive health/family planning, maternal and child health, and STD/HIV/AIDS education. Pape has worked extensively in Africa providing training and technical assistance to organizations and governments in the design management and evaluation of development projects. He was director for West, Central and North Africa for INTRAHs PRIME II project, based in Accra, Ghana.. Currently, Pape is President of IntraHealth based in North Carolina in the USA.


LASKIN, Mark J. (PhD/MSc Clinical Psychology; Master of Hospital Administration) (American/British) Treasurer

Mark Laskin, Master of Hospital AdministrationMark Laskin has over 20 years professional experience working in health care, population/family planning programs and policy worldwide in the governmental and non-governmental sectors. He is experienced in project/program management, strategic planning, policy development, budgeting and reporting systems and advocacy/donor affairs. Mark was senior manager for 14 years at the International Planned Parenthood Federation working in family planning, maternal and child health through national Planned Parenthood affiliates in over 170 countries (with annual budget of $107 million internationally and $960 million consolidated international expenditure). Previously, Mark was in the US Foreign Service working both in Washington and in Latin America/Caribbean and as White House staffer working on US Government international health policy


BOOKER, Jayne (American)

Jayne was involved in international grant making for The David & Lucile Packard Foundation, with a focus on Africa, reproductive health organizations, and strengthening organizational effectiveness of grantee organizations. She has a solid track record of building and managing consulting organization in multicultural environments, with senior management experience in marketing and development. Jayne has 14 years living and working experience abroad, 8 in Africa (South Africa, Botswana and Benin), and 6 in the Caribbean (Antigua and Barbados). She has a rich experience with community service.


ANTWI-YEBOAH, Boasiako (MD) (Ghanaian)

LUSIOLA, Grace (BSc Social Sciences) (Kenyan): Member Grace has over 15 years experience coordinating the implementation of community-based reproductive health initiatives in Africa, including management of an HIV/AIDS home-based care, support, and prevention program in Kenya. Through her more than seven years in Tanzania, she has developed a broad network of local reproductive health organizations, consultants and donors, which can be drawn upon to enhance referral systems and linkages for PMTCT clients. Grace is currently Chief of Party of the USAID-funded ACQUIRE Project in Tanzania


MRISHO, Fatmah H (M.B. Ch.B) (Tanzanian)

Fatmah has extensive skills and education in Public Health, Management and Development with particular emphasis on Reproductive Health, Gender and Health, Control of Sexually Transmitted Infections/HIV/AIDS, and Adolescent Health. She has assisted several Eastern and Central African countries to develop UNFPA funded Country Programs; contributed to the development of the Africa Regional Roadmap for the Reduction of Maternal and Newborn mortalities and morbidities, coordinated by WHO/AFRO; contributed to the development of the UNFPA Africa Regional Population Strategy; and contributed to the writing of the first African State of the Population Document coordinated by the African Union and facilitated by UNFPA. She has worked extensively as a trainer, including curriculum development, and has led or participated in many evaluation missions


ARKUTU, Andrew A. (MD) (Ghanaian)

A former chair of the Center for African Family Studies Board of Directors and formally UNFPA Country Director in Nigeria and Tanzania, Dr Arkutu has been in reproductive health policy and strategy development for over thirty years. More recently, he has been the Ghana Country Representative for Pathfinder International

ESIET, Uwemedimo Uko (M.B.BS, M.A.L.D, MPH) (Nigerian)

Dr Esiet is the founding member of Action Health Incorporated (AHI), a youth serving NGO where, as a member of the Board of Trustees, he continues to serve in various capacities, to compliment the training, technical assistance and capacity building efforts of AHI to other organizations and persons. He regularly consults with various organizations in and outside Nigeria including support to the 1st African Collaboration Meeting on Sexual Health and Rights Pretoria (2002), 2nd Conference on NGO Partnerships for Reproductive Health in Africa, Nairobi (2002), WHO Geneva Consultation on Promotion of Sexual Health (2002), HIV/AIDS International Conference, Mumbai (2001), and WHO Geneva Consultation on Adolescent and Youth Friendly Health Services (2001). Dr Esiet has contributed to various publications on sexuality education, including the National Sexuality Education Curriculum (2001) and the Guidelines for Comprehensive Sexuality Education In Nigeria (1996).

THOMAS, Lynn (British)
Lyn is currently Deputy Director-General of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) after many years of service to the IPPF European Network based in Brussels.


OKUNNU, Sr., Marc Ahmed (BA Political Science) (Nigerian) Secretary/Executive Director

Marc OkunnuMarc Okunnu has been in population and reproductive health (RH) since 1972 when he joined USAID/Ghana as program specialist in the Health, Population and Nutrition Office. Marc has had the unique opportunity to work, either as staff or in an advisory capacity, with both governmental and non-governmental donor agencies; national governmental institutions in population and family planning (FP); national FP NGOs; and CAFS, the pan-African population and RH human resources development and technical assistance institution based in Nairobi, Kenya. This has given him broad perspectives and understanding of the diverse needs, aspirations and requirements of the different organizations involved in developing, implementing or funding RH and FP programs inthe Africa region. With over 20 years experience in senior management working with USAID- and DFID-funded projects, FPIA, IPPF and JSI, Marc is also well experienced in organisational transformation and RH program management at the national and Africa regional levels.

Marc A. Okunnu, Sr. (Executive Director)
BA (Political Science) over 30 years in sexual and reproductive health and HIV/AIDS program and management development, as well as organizational development and transformation. Marc has work and consulting experience with DFID, USAID, UNDP, UNFPA and several public and civil society organizations throughout sub-Saharan Africa

Roseni Dearden (Operations Manager, London)
MSc (Information Technology) over 20 years technical, Management, Finance and Training experience in the commercial, co-operative and voluntary sectors. Responsibility for administration at the MSA London office, and supporting MSA Country Branches. Roseni also liases with MSA clients , partners and donors.


Yemi OsanyinYemi Osanyin (Country Team Leader, Nigeria)
MA (Public Administration) over 15 years in public, private and NGO sector population, SRH and HIV/AIDS program and management development; extensive experience with capacity building in civil society organizations and familiarity with USAID and UN agencies.


Abraham NyakoAbraham Nyako Jnr (Country Team Leader, Ghana)

Master of Public Health (MPH) from the University of Ghana with over ten years experience in the field of Communications and Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) including HIV/AIDS. Abraham has supported SRH/HIV program management and capacity building initiatives in countries including Ghana, Lesotho, Liberia, Kenya, Uganda and Sudan


MSA International Volunteers

Albert Martins (Marketing Manager, 2007 to date)
MBA (Ghana), M.Sc (UK), MCIM, MMRS. Based in the MSA International Office in London, Albert has responsibility for marketing and business development, with a focus on resource mobilization and sustainability planning services. Albert has previously worked as a consultant for Planned Parenthood Association of Ghana (PPAG) to initiate resource mobilization projects and support youth-oriented SRH interventions.

Nina Dearden (Administrative Assistant, 2007-2008)
An A-level holder with a high interest in sexual and reproductive health and development. Prior to studying Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Oxford University, Nina is volunteering at the MSA London office as an Administrative Assistant during her gap year, and hopeful to continue in Mexico as a volunteer for a sexual and reproductive health advocacy group.

MSA Technical Associates

In addition, MSA has organized a network of institutional and individual associates in organisational development, strategic and performance management, health economics, financial management, and SRH and HIV/AIDS. These institutions and individuals contribute specialist inputs as well as advice through MSA's technical working.
